A friend and I upon hearing about Hartford’s Love Your Block grant program excitedly put together concepts for a park in our cities South Green neighborhood. When discussing this submission at mayor Aruna Arulampalam state of the city address, we were introduced to members of an organization called Friends of Barnard Park.

Upon agreement of general principles, we were made formal members and pushed through an application for the Love Your Block 25k grant to address immediate infrastructure issues. It’s our goal to revitalize the Barnard Park & the South Green neighborhood. I of course put together a website for the group at friendsofbarnardpark.org.
